) passes through breast milk in humans. The manufacturer of the drug recommends that breastfeeding women not take Victoza. Therefore, please check with your healthcare provider (and/or your child's healthcare provider) before taking this medication while nursing.

Victoza passes through breast milk in rats, although no studies have been done to see if the same is true in humans. It is unknown if the digestive tract of infants would be able to absorb Victoza, or whether the drug would be destroyed by the digestive tract.
Because Victoza causes thyroid tumors in laboratory animals, the manufacturer currently recommends that women not breastfeed while taking it.
