Drug Interactions With Sitagliptin/Simvastatin

Cyclosporine
Taking both cyclosporine and sitagliptin/simvastatin together may increase the risk for developing serious muscle problems, such as myopathy or rhabdomyolysis. This combination is not recommended.
 
Diltiazem
Combining diltiazem with sitagliptin/simvastatin may increase the risk for serious muscle problems, such as myopathy or rhabdomyolysis. If you are taking these medicines together, your healthcare provider may choose to monitor your progress closely and make necessary dosing adjustments. Your dosage of sitagliptin/simvastatin should not exceed 100/10 mg daily.
 
Dronedarone
Combining dronedarone with sitagliptin/simvastatin may increase the risk for serious muscle problems, such as myopathy or rhabdomyolysis. If you are taking these medicines together, your healthcare provider may choose to monitor your progress closely and make necessary dosing adjustments. Your dosage of sitagliptin/simvastatin should not exceed 100/10 mg daily.
 
Fibrates
Combining a fibrate with sitagliptin/simvastatin increases the risk for serious muscle problems. Sitagliptin/simvastatin should not be combined with gemfibrozil. Sitagliptin/simvastatin should be used with caution when combined with fenofibrate.
 
Danazol
Taking both danazol and sitagliptin/simvastatin together may increase the risk for developing serious muscle problems, such as myopathy or rhabdomyolysis. This combination is not recommended.
 
Grapefruit
People who are taking sitagliptin/simvastatin should not drink large quantities of grapefruit juice, eat grapefruit, or use grapefruit supplements, as it can increase the levels of sitagliptin/simvastatin in the blood. This can increase the chances for developing a serious muscle problem (myopathy or rhabdomyolysis), which can cause the kidneys to stop working.
 
This interaction is most serious if a large amount (one liter or more) of grapefruit juice is consumed daily.
