Precose UsesPrecose should be used when blood sugar levels in adults with type 2 diabetes cannot be controlled by lifestyle changes (such as diet and exercise) alone. The medicine works by slowing the digestion of carbohydrates from the diet, thereby lowering blood sugar levels after meals. By lowering blood sugar, Precose can help decrease the chances of developing problems associated with high blood sugar, such as heart disease and kidney failure. At this time, there are no universally accepted off-label Precose uses.
