Prandin Drug Interactions

Prandin Interactions Explained

The following sections explain in detail the potentially negative interactions that can occur when Prandin is combined with any of the drugs listed above.

Atazanavir
Taking Prandin with atazanavir can greatly increase the level of Prandin in your blood, increasing your risk of side effects (especially dangerously low blood sugar). To prevent this, talk to your healthcare provider before taking these two medications together.

Beta Blockers
Combining Prandin with beta blockers can increase your risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia). You may need to be monitored more closely, and your healthcare provider may need to adjust your Prandin dose, especially when starting or stopping a beta blocker.

Certain Antibiotics or Antifungals
If Prandin is taken with certain antibiotics or antifungals, this can increase the level of Prandin in your blood, which may increase your risk of side effects. Your healthcare provider may need to lower your dose of Prandin while you are taking antibiotics or antifungals, depending on your particular situation.

Cyclosporine
Cyclosporine may increase the level of Prandin in the blood, perhaps increasing the risk of Prandin side effects. Check with your healthcare provider before taking these medications together.

Deferasirox
Studies suggest that deferasirox may increase the level of Prandin in the blood, perhaps increasing the risk of side effects. Your healthcare provider may need to decrease your dose of Prandin if you are taking these two medications together.

Delavirdine
If Prandin is combined with delavirdine, this can increase the level of Prandin in your blood, potentially increasing your risk of side effects. Your healthcare provider may need to decrease your dose of Prandin if you are taking these two medications together.
