Oseni Dosage

The recommended dosage of Oseni will depend on a number of factors, such as other diabetes medications you are taking and how well your diabetes is controlled. This medication comes in the form of a tablet that is taken once daily. Try to take Oseni at the same time each day to keep an even level of the medication in your bloodstream.

An Introduction to Dosing With Oseni

The dose of Oseni® (alogliptin and pioglitazone) your healthcare provider recommends will vary, depending on a number of factors, including:

  • How well your blood sugar is controlled
  • Other medications you are taking
  • Other medical conditions you may have.

As is always the case, do not adjust your dosage unless your healthcare provider specifically tells you to do so.

What Is the Recommended Oseni Dosage?

Your healthcare provider will choose an initial dose of Oseni for you based on your individual situation, including other medical conditions you may have and whether you are taking other diabetes medications. This initial amount will then be adjusted based on how well your blood sugar is controlled. Your healthcare provider will check your blood sugar control with regular blood tests, including blood sugar checks you can do at home and hemoglobin A1C blood tests.

The maximum recommended Oseni dose for most people is 25 mg/45 mg, which contains 25 mg of alogliptin (Nesina®) and 45 mg of pioglitazone (Actos®). However, people who take certain other medications that interact with Oseni will generally be limited to a maximum dosage of 25 mg/15 mg (see Oseni Drug Interactions).

Lower doses are also generally recommended for people with moderate kidney disease. Because people with severe kidney disease should not receive more than 6.25 mg of alogliptin (one of the medications in Oseni), they should not take Oseni, as the lowest available dosage contains 12.5 mg of alogliptin.
