NovoLog Mix 50/50 Side Effects

Skin thickening or pitting at the injection site and a skin reaction at the injection site are side effects that may occur with NovoLog Mix 50/50. Side effects of the medication are usually minor and do not require medical attention, but some should be reported to your healthcare provider immediately. Potentially serious side effects of NovoLog Mix 50/50 include low blood sugar and an allergic reaction.

An Introduction to NovoLog Mix 50/50 Side Effects

As with any medicine, side effects are possible with NovoLog® Mix 50/50 (insulin aspart protamine/insulin aspart). However, not everyone who takes this medicine will have problems. In fact, many people tolerate it quite well. If side effects do occur, they are often minor and either require no treatment or are easily treated by you or your healthcare provider.

Possible Side Effects With NovoLog Mix 50/50

As with all
 insulins, possible side effects of NovoLog Mix 50/50 include:
 
  • A skin reaction at the site of the injection
  • Skin thickening or pitting at the site of the injection
  • Low blood sugar levels (hypoglycemia).
     
Studies have shown that side effects of NovoLog Mix 50/50 are comparable to the side effects seen with NovoLog Mix 70/30 (a similar, older insulin).
