NovoLog Mix 50/50 Dosing Guidelines
There is no "standard"
NovoLog Mix 50/50 dose that will work for all people or even for the same person in all situations. NovoLog Mix 50/50 is made up of two different insulins, 50 percent intermediate-acting (
insulin aspart protamine) and 50 percent rapid-acting (insulin aspart). It is taken twice a day within 15 minutes before the start of each meal, up to three times per day.
You may be asked to measure your blood sugar before and after meals, and your healthcare provider may recommend carbohydrate counting. Both of these things can help you and your healthcare provider know how to dose your NovoLog Mix 50/50.
If you are switching from
NovoLog Mix 70/30 to this product, it is important to understand a few key differences. This insulin contains less of the intermediate-acting insulin and more of the rapid-acting insulin, compared to NovoLog 70/30. While NovoLog Mix 70/30 is usually taken just twice a day, this insulin is usually taken three times daily.
