How Should This Medicine Be Stored?

Metanx should be stored at room temperature, away from moisture and light. Keep this and all other medications out of the reach of children and pets.

What Should I Do If I Forget a Dose of Metanx?

There is no need to worry if you forget to take a dose of Metanx every now and then. You can skip the missed dose or take it when you remember. If you are taking the medicine twice a day, you can even take both of the tablets at the same time. Just don't take more than your usual daily dosage to make up for a missed dose.

Available Strengths

Metanx tablets come in one form and strength: Metanx 3-35-2 mg. Each tablet contains:
  • 3 mg of L-methylfolate (a form of folic acid)
  • 35 mg of pyridoxal 5'-phosphate (a form of vitamin B6)
  • 2 mg of methylcobalamin (a form of vitamin B12).

Can I Buy Generic Metanx?

Because Metanx is considered a medical food, there are technically no generic versions of it. There are other products that contain similar active ingredients. However, medical foods do not undergo the same tests that prescription drugs must go through, so there is no way to know if these products are equivalent to Metanx (see Generic Metanx).
