Metanx and Diabetes

If you have certain complications associated with diabetes, Metanx® may help relieve some of these problems. Metanx is a prescription vitamin used to help manage endothelial dysfunction in people with diabetic peripheral neuropathy. Endothelial dysfunction simply means that the inner lining of the blood vessels are not functioning properly. Metanx may also be used in people who have hyperhomocysteinemia (high levels of homocysteine in the blood).

Diabetic neuropathy is nerve damage associated with diabetes that occurs when high blood sugar levels damage the nerves and blood vessels in the body. Metanx works by improving blood flow in damaged blood vessels, which can help increase the amount of important nutrients needed to help damaged nerves to function properly.
