Metaglip Drug Interactions

Diuretics
Taking Metaglip and diuretics at the same time can make Metaglip less effective, potentialy increasing your chance of high blood sugar (hyperglycemia). To prevent this, you may need to be monitored more closely, and your healthcare provider may need to adjust your Metaglip dose, especially when starting or stopping a diuretic.

Taking Metaglip with furosemide (a diuretic) can affect the levels of both furosemide and Metaglip in your blood. This may increase your risk for side effects of Metaglip and may also make furosemide less effective. Your healthcare provider may need to adjust your dose of these medications to prevent this interaction from occurring.

Estrogens
If Metaglip is combined with estrogens, this can make Metaglip less effective, increasing your chance of high blood sugar (hyperglycemia). You may need to be monitored more closely, and your healthcare provider may need to adjust your Metaglip dose, especially when starting or stopping an estrogen, depending on your particular situation.

Isoniazid
Taking Metaglip and isoniazid together can make Metaglip less effective, increasing your chance of high blood sugar (hyperglycemia). You may need to be monitored more closely, and your healthcare provider may need to adjust your Metaglip dose, especially when starting or stopping isoniazid.

Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors
Combining Metaglip with monoamine oxidase inhibitors can increase your risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia). As a result, you may need to be monitored more closely, and your healthcare provider may need to adjust your Metaglip dose, especially when starting or stopping an MAOI.

Niacin
If Metaglip and niacin are taken together, this can make Metaglip less effective, possibly ncreasing your chance of high blood sugar (hyperglycemia). You may need to be monitored more closely, and your healthcare provider may need to adjust your Metaglip dose, especially when starting or stopping niacin.
