Who Should Not Take Irbesartan?

You should not take irbesartan if:
 
  • You are allergic to Avapro, irbesartan, or any inactive component used to make the medicines. Your healthcare provider or pharmacist has a list of inactive ingredients.
  • You have diabetes and are also taking any medications that contain aliskiren (Tekturna®, Tekamlo®, Tekturna HCT®, Amturnide®, Valturna®), due to an increased risk for low blood pressure, high blood potassium, and kidney problems in this situation.
