Diabetes Home > Novolin R Insulin Information

Novolin® R (regular insulin) is a type of insulin used to help control blood sugar levels in people with diabetes. This medication is short-acting and is available without a prescription. It is used to control the spike in blood sugar that occurs after meals. Most people who take it will also need a long-acting insulin as well to provide a steady background level of insulin to help control blood sugar throughout the day.

Because certain risks are associated with the use of this drug, it is important to review safety information for Novolin R with your healthcare provider before beginning treatment. For example, tell your healthcare provider if you have any problems with your liver or kidneys.
