Kazano Dosage

Although various factors affect the dose of Kazano a person is prescribed, the initial amount will be based on things like how well your blood sugar is controlled and other medications you are taking. This medication comes as a tablet that is taken twice a day. If necessary, your dosage will be adjusted slowly to reduce the risk of stomach upset.

An Introduction to Dosing With Kazano

The dose of Kazano® (alogliptin and metformin) your healthcare provider recommends will vary, depending on a number of factors, including:
  • How well your blood sugar is controlled
  • Other medications you are taking
  • Other medical conditions you may have.
As is always the case, do not adjust your dosage unless your healthcare provider specifically tells you to do so.

What Is the Recommended Kazano Dosage?

The usual initial dosage of Kazano for treating type 2 diabetes can vary from person to person. Your healthcare provider will choose the most appropriate initial amount based on your unique situation, and then adjust your dose if necessary.
Dosage adjustments are based on how well you tolerate Kazano and how well your blood sugar is controlled. Your healthcare provider will check your blood sugar control with regular blood tests, including blood sugar checks you can do at home, and hemoglobin A1C blood tests.
If necessary, Kazano doses will be adjusted slowly to minimize the risk for stomach upset that can occur with metformin (Glucophage®, one of the active components of Kazano). The maximum recommended dosage is 25 mg/2000 mg, which contains 25 mg of alogliptin (Nesina®) and 2000 mg of metformin.
