If you are an adult with
type 2 diabetes (also known as adult-onset
diabetes or noninsulin-dependent diabetes), your healthcare provider may recommend
Januvia® (
sitagliptin). This medication comes in the form of a tablet and is taken once a day.
Januvia is available in the following forms:
- 25 mg Januvia tablets
- 50 mg Januvia tablets
- 100 mg Januvia tablets.
For most people taking this drug, dosing guidelines call for 100 mg a day. However, the Januvia 100 mg tablets may not be suitable for people with kidney problems, since the kidneys clear the drug from the body. A lower dosage (such as 25 or 50 mg) may be necessary.
