Januvia® (sitagliptin) is a medication used for reducing blood sugar levels in people with type 2 diabetes. It works by slowing the breakdown of incretin hormones, which causes a decrease in glucose production in the liver and an increase of insulin production. Januvia comes in tablet form and is available by prescription only. Before your healthcare provider prescribes you this drug, make sure he or she is aware if you are pregnant, have kidney problems, or have any allergies.
