Invokana and Other Diabetes Meds

The diabetes drug Invokana® (canagliflozin) can cause negative interactions with certain other drugs, including other diabetes meds. Combining Invokana with insulin, oral diabetes drugs, or other diabetes medications may increase the risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia).

The risk of developing low blood sugar is highest when Invokana is combined with insulin medications or sulfonylureas. Because you may need more than one medication to help control your blood sugar levels, talk to your healthcare provider if your blood sugar levels are dropping too low.

(Click Invokana Drug Interactions for a more detailed look at other possible drug interactions that may occur with Invokana. This article also discusses the complications that may occur and what your healthcare provider may recommend.)
