Storage Methods

Unopened Humulin R vials should be stored in the refrigerator. It is best to keep the vials refrigerated once they are opened, although they may be kept at room temperature (less than 86 degrees Fahrenheit) if necessary. Either way, the vial should be discarded 28 days after the first use, even if there is some insulin left.
Keep both forms of this insulin away from direct light or heat. Make sure to keep it out of reach of children.
