General Glyburide Dosing Information

Considerations for people taking glyburide include the following:
 
  • Glyburide should be taken at the same time(s) each day.
     
  • If you are taking glyburide once daily, take your dose with breakfast. If you do not eat breakfast regularly, take glyburide with the first main meal of the day. If you take glyburide twice daily, the first dose should be with breakfast or the first main meal.
     
  • If you do not take your glyburide as scheduled, take your next dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue on your regular schedule. Do not take a double dose of glyburide.
     
  • For glyburide to work properly, you have to take it as prescribed. The medication will not work if you take it differently than how your healthcare provider recommends.
     
  • If you are unsure about anything related to glyburide or glyburide dosing, talk to your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist. Do not stop taking glyburide without first discussing it with your healthcare provider.
