Who Should Not Take Glipizide?

You should not take glipizide if you:
 
  • Are allergic to glipizide, Glucotrol, or any inactive component used to make glipizide. Your healthcare provider or pharmacist has a list of the inactive ingredients.
     
  • Have type 1 diabetes.
     
  • Have diabetic ketoacidosis (a life-threatening condition that may occur with uncontrolled diabetes). This condition needs to be treated with insulin.
