Does Fenugreek Work? (Cont.)

Herbal Supplements and Their Effectiveness

To be fair, it should be noted that a lack of scientific evidence does not automatically mean that fenugreek is ineffective. However, it should also be noted that just because fenugreek is "natural" does not automatically mean it is safe. Many toxins and poisons are natural, for example. Also, just because some people have used it safely and effectively does not mean that it really is safe and effective. This is why clinical studies are performed. Without adequate studies, there is really no way to know for sure if a product is safe, since studies are needed to find rare side effects, or effective, since many positive experiences with an herb may be merely coincidental.

Final Thoughts on the Effectiveness of Fenugreek

Fenugreek has been studied very little. It is not really known if the herb works or is safe for any use. If you are interested in using fenugreek, it is a good idea to discuss this first with your healthcare provider.
