Prevention of Diabetes
If you are trying to reduce your risk of diabetes, a good place to start is with your diet. Increasing your physical activity is another great way of lowering your risk. In many cases, the combination of a healthier diet and more exercise results in weight loss -- which, fortunately, can decrease your risk even further.
Some of the strategies for improving your diet include:
- Sharing your dessert
- Eating smaller portions
- Cooking with less oil and butter.
Looking for ways to incorporate more physical activity into your day? You could try:
- Taking the stairs instead of the elevator
- Marching in place while you watch TV
- Parking as far away as possible from your favorite store at the mall.
