Nesina Medication Information

Nesina® (alogliptin) is a medication approved for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. By taking it, you may be able to lower blood sugar levels enough to reduce your risk of developing diabetes-related problems, such as heart, nerve, eye, or kidney problems. This drug works to lower blood sugar levels by reducing the amount of sugar made by the liver and increasing the production of insulin in response to meals.

Dosing guidelines for Nesina call for taking it once daily, ideally at the same time each day to maintain an even level of the drug in your bloodstream. Although Nesina is generally well tolerated, it is possible to develop side effects with this medicine. Some of the most common side effects include headaches, a runny nose, and common cold symptoms.
