Metformin Oral Solution Info

If you have type 2 diabetes -- and have trouble swallowing pills -- your healthcare provider may recommend metformin oral solution (Riomet®). This prescription drug is the only liquid form of metformin available; it comes as a cherry-flavored liquid that is taken by mouth, usually two or three times daily. At this time, it is only available as a brand-name product.

Most people have no problems taking metformin oral solution; however, the drug's safety information should be reviewed so that you are aware of possible side effects (such as nausea, diarrhea, and gas) and know the warning signs of an allergic reaction or other serious problem that requires prompt medical attention.

(Click Metformin Oral Solution for more info on this drug, including other possible side effects, in-depth dosing guidelines, and how it works.)
