List of Diabetic Medication -- Insulin

There are five classes of insulin available as an injection:

Rapid-acting
- Insulin lispro (Humalog^®)
- Insulin aspart (NovoLog^®)

Short-acting
- Humulin^® R
- Novolin^® R

Intermediate-acting
- Humulin N
- Novolin N

Long-acting
- Insulin glargine (Lantus^®)

Premixed
- Premixed insulin is two types of insulins mixed together in specific proportion in one bottle or insulin pen. There are several types of the NPH and regular insulin mixture (Humulin 70/30, Humulin 50/50, Novolin 70/30, NovoLog 70/30, Humalog 70/30).

Other Injectable Diabetes Medications

Besides insulin, there are two other types of injectable diabetes medications:

Exenatide (Byetta^®)
Pramlintide acetate (Symlin^®).
