Invokana Diabetes Medication

Invokana® (canagliflozin) is a drug licensed for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. It is available by prescription only and comes as a tablet that is taken once a day, shortly before your first meal of the day.

In clinical studies, Invokana lowered HbA1c (hemoglobin A1c) levels and fasting blood sugar levels more than when the drug was not used. By controlling blood sugar levels, this medicine can help reduce the risk of developing long-term problems related to diabetes, such as heart, nerve, eye, or kidney problems.

Before using Invokana, make sure your healthcare provider has up-to-date information on any other medications you are taking (including vitamins and supplements), as well as any allergies you have. Also, let your healthcare provider know if you have problems with your kidneys, low blood pressure, or high blood potassium levels.
