Byetta® (exenatide) is a medication licensed to lower blood sugar levels in people who have type 2 diabetes. This prescription medication comes in the form of an injection and is only approved for use in combination with certain oral diabetes medications. The injection is taken twice a day and is administered just under the skin of the thigh, abdomen (stomach), or upper arm. Before using this medication, make sure your healthcare provider is aware of any other medical conditions you have, as well as any other medications you are taking (including vitamins and herbal supplements).
