Avandaryl Side Effects

Although most people tolerate Avandaryl well, the medication can cause reactions such as headaches, low blood sugar, and fluid retention. In many cases, side effects are minor and easy to treat. However, there are several side effects of Avandaryl that you should report immediately to your healthcare provider, including trouble breathing, a rapid increase in weight, and vision changes.

In September 2010, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced that it would be severely restricting the use of rosiglitazone, one of the active ingredients in Avandaryl, due to the risk of "cardiovascular events" such as heart attacks and strokes. Only individuals who cannot control their diabetes on other medications (or those who are already taking the medication and doing well) will be able to take Avandaryl.

An Introduction to Avandaryl Side Effects

As with any medicine, there are possible side effects with Avandaryl® (
rosiglitazone and glimepiride). However, not everyone who takes Avandaryl will experience side effects. In fact, most people tolerate the drug well. When side effects do occur, in most cases they are minor and either require no treatment or can be treated easily by you or your healthcare provider.
