Avandamet and Type 1 Diabetes: Summary

Avandamet alone is not effective for type 1 diabetes. It should not be used in people with type 1 diabetes who are not insulin resistant. However, Avandamet may have a use for people with both type 1 and type 2 diabetes (double diabetes), although it is not approved for this use.
