Amaryl to Lower Blood Sugar

If you have type 2 diabetes, Amaryl® (glimepiride) may help to lower your blood sugar. Amaryl is a prescription medication that can be used by itself or in combination with insulin.

Studies have shown that by getting blood sugar levels under control with Amaryl, it may be possible to decrease the chances for developing diabetes complications, such as heart disease and diabetic retinopathy.

As a sulfonylurea medicine, Amaryl works to treat type 2 diabetes by helping the pancreas to produce more insulin. It also helps the body's cells respond better to insulin, which results in a decrease in blood sugar levels.
