Actos Risks

Although many people do not experience any problems while taking Actos® (pioglitazone hydrochloride), this medication is not free of problems. Some of the most common risks with Actos involve:
 
If any problems do occur, they tend to be minor and easy to treat. However, there are some potentially serious Actos risks that require immediate medical attention. Contact your healthcare provider if you experience serious problems, such as:
 
  • Trouble breathing (it may be a sign of new or worsening congestive heart failure)
  • Swelling, especially in the legs or ankles
  • Rapid increase in weight (three to five pounds in less than one week)
  • Seizures.
