Actos Drug Interactions

When gemfibrozil, oral contraceptives, or certain seizure medications are taken together with Actos, drug interactions can occur. These interactions may significantly increase or decrease the levels of Actos in your blood and lead to side effects. Other medications that may cause Actos drug interactions include atazanavir, ketoconazole, ritonavir, and nifedipine.

Actos® (pioglitazone hydrochloride) can potentially interact with several medicines. Some of the medicines that can lead to Actos drug interactions include:
 
o Fosphenytoin (Cerebyx®)
o Phenobarbital (Luminal®)

Actos Interactions Explained

 
Atazanavir (Reyataz)
Taking Actos with atanazavir can increase the level of Actos in your blood, increasing your risk of side effects.
 Your healthcare provider may need to decrease your dose of Actos.
