Actoplus Met Strengths

Several different strengths of Actoplus Met® (pioglitazone and metformin) are available. The exact amount your healthcare provider recommends will depend on various factors, such as how well your type 2 diabetes was controlled on other medications and if you are taking any other drugs (this includes nonprescription medications, vitamins, and supplements).

Most people who take Actoplus Met are switching to this combination drug rather than taking the different active ingredients in it separately. For example, if you are switching to Actoplus Met from metformin, your healthcare provider may recommend that you take 15 mg/500 mg twice a day or 15 mg/850 mg once a day.

If necessary, this amount can be increased up to a maximum daily dose of 45 mg/2550 mg. However, you should not adjust your Actoplus Met strength without the advice and supervision of your healthcare provider. Not following this important safety precaution can have serious consequences.
