Actoplus Met Problems
Actoplus Met® (pioglitazone and metformin) is a medication approved for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. Although most people have no problems with it, there are some situations in which another diabetes drug may need to be considered; some people need to avoid Actoplus Met altogether.
For example, people with liver or kidney disease, or a history of heart disease (especially congestive heart failure) may be more likely to experience problems with Actoplus Met, such as lactic acidosis, which can be life-threatening. In addition, there are certain side effects to watch out for, such as an allergic reaction, dangerously low blood sugar, and rapid weight gain.
To avoid these and other problems, tell your healthcare provider about any medical conditions you have in addition to diabetes, and make sure to report anything that "just does not seem right" during treatment with Actoplus Met.
