Actoplus Met Effectiveness

People with type 2 diabetes often find Actoplus Met® (pioglitazone and metformin) to be effective at controlling their condition. The drug is proven to lower blood sugar, as measured by HbA1c and fasting blood sugar -- two tests widely used to measure the effectiveness of diabetes drugs.

This combination medication works in a few different ways. The pioglitazone component helps the body respond to its own insulin better, and the metformin component decreases the amount of sugar the body produces, as well as how much sugar the body absorbs from a person's diet. When these effects are combined, the result is a decrease in overall blood sugar.

Keep in mind that this medicine is only effective for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. Actoplus Met is not approved as a type 1 diabetes treatment.
