Actoplus Met Drug Interactions

When certain seizure medications, oral contraceptives, or thyroid medications are taken with Actoplus Met, drug interactions may potentially occur. As a result, the medicine levels in your system may be increased, Actoplus Met may become less effective, and high blood sugar levels may develop. Other medicines that may lead to potential Actoplus Met drug interactions include atorvastatin, certain decongestants, corticosteroids, and calcium channel blockers.

 

Actoplus Met Drug Interactions: An Overview

 Actoplus Met® (pioglitazone and metformin) can potentially interact with several medicines. Some of the medicines that can lead to Actoplus Met drug interactions include:
 
  • Certain decongestants, such as phenylephrine (Sudafed PE®) or psuedoephedrine (Sudafed®)
     
  • Certain seizure medications, including
o Fosphenytoin (Cerebyx®)
o Phenobarbital (Luminal®)
o Betamethasone (Celestone®)
o Cortisone
o Dexamethasone (Decadron®)
o Fludrocortisone (Florinef®)
o Hydrocortisone (Cortef®)
o Methylprednisolone (Depo-Medrol®, Medrol®)
o Prednisolone (Ovapred®, Pediapred®)
o Triamcinolone (Kenalog®, Aristospan®)
  • Diuretics, such as:
o Acetazolamide (Diamox®)
o Chlorthalodone
o Promethazine (Phenergan®)
